Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama

Offering day camp for boys & girls ages 5-12 and overnight camp for girls ages 5-16. Camp Coleman, Camp Trico, and Kanwahala Program Center provide the perfect combination of progressive instructional activities and freestyle schedule.

Camp Coleman was established in 1925 on the banks of the Cahaba River. For more than 90 years, Camp Coleman has provided the ideal setting to create life changing experiences to children. The day camp program is open to boys and girls. Overnight camp is open to girls only. An innovative design will allow campers to select their activities as they happen. Archery, canoeing, climbing wall, tubing, pony rides, amazing crafts, nature activities, and traditional outdoor skills. Bus transportation is available to and from camp to multiple locations in the Birmingham metro area for day camp.

  • Capacity/Lodging: 100 people in bunkhouses and rustic cabins
  • Cost per week/session: $300 and up
  • Day Camp hours: 8am-4pm, Monday- Friday
  • Financial aid available for Girl Scout members
  • List of camp activities: archery, crafts, canoeing, tubing, kayaking, creek exploration, hiking, pony rides, swimming, nature study, outdoor living skills, hatchet throwing, climbing wall, cooking, riflery, slingshots, team building.

 

Camp Trico, Lake Guntersville

Camp Trico is located in Guntersville with more than a mile of shore line and a private island on the lake. The day camp program is open to boys and girls. Overnight camp is open to girls only. An innovative design will allow campers to select their activities as they happen. Archery, canoeing, climbing wall, tubing, amazing crafts, nature activities, and traditional outdoor skills. Bus transportation is available to and from camp to multiple locations in the Huntsville metro area for day camp.

Kanawahala​ Program Center (KPC) KPC is a modern camp featuring air-conditioned dorm style rooms, a 40 acre private lake, and plenty of hiking trails to explore. Overnight camp is open to girls only. An innovative design will allow campers to select their activities as they happen. Archery, canoeing, climbing wall, tubing, amazing crafts, nature activities, and traditional outdoor skills.

  • Camp length: 6 days, overnight

  • List of camp activities: archery, bicycling, canoeing, climbing wall, crafts, nature/environmental, fishing, songs, games & skits, hiking trails, kayaking, outdoor skills (knife safety, knots, firebuilding, etc.), pedal boats, swimming, water games & lake fun, challenge adventure activities, campfire, cookout, flag ceremony, etc.
