McWane’s newest exhibit is out of this world—literally! “Mission Astronaut” takes you to outer space, where you learn about everything it takes to be an astronaut. Discover plant science and how to grow plants like onions & lettuce on Mars, how to support human life in space, and even try your hand—again, literally!—at using space gloves to perform maintenance tasks. You even find out how astronauts work out on the rocket! Some days programs may allow you to experiment with how rockets work and shoot your own tiny rocket into the sky with science. Once you’re ready to launch your new career as an astronaut, explore the rest of the science center—from the bed of nails and epic dinosaur fossils to second largest aquarium in the state and the gigantic IMAX theater, they have it all. Head to mcwane.org to purchase your admission tickets.
