If you’re looking to put some “steak” in the game, Birmingham’s newest steakhouse, Lapeer Steak & Seafood, is worth the investment. The restaurant opened last month inside The Hardwick (at 2308 1st Ave. S., Birmingham), an old steel fabricator plant downtown that now houses a mix of restaurants and retail space. Considered “boutique dining,” the venture is led by both Chef Blake Hartley (Hot & Hot and Bottega vet) and Chef Andy Long (Aria vet).

Their menu features premium cuts of beef, with prime, certified Angus, America Wagyu, and reserved dry aged steaks, as well as fresh seafood from the Gulf and East coast, including a raw oyster bar. They serve a rotating list of seasonal cocktails curated by Level One Sommelier Richard Ramirez—though don’t worry, the Frozen Espresso Martini hasn’t left the menu since its introduction in 2022. “Lapeer Steak & Seafood is a great spot for a parent’s night out, whether you’re toasting to date night, getting together with friends, or celebrating a birthday or anniversary,” explains Co-Executive Chef Andy Long. “If you want something more low-key, come grab a seat at the bar for a handcrafted cocktail, a bacon & blue wedge salad, a lobster roll, and a tower of fries that’s perfect for sharing.” When you finish dinner, be sure to try one of their decadent desserts. “Our famous Blackout Chocolate Cake and other treats are made in-house by our talented pastry chef Elise,” Long adds. They are open for lunch and dinner Monday through Thursday, and dinner Friday through Saturday night, with free lunch parking and complimentary valet for dinner.
