Baked with Love: Holiday
Hallmark has been cooking up something sweet—namely, their new Christmas baking show, called “Baked with Love: Holiday.” (Warning: It might inspire holiday baking… and hunger.) 10 skilled pairs of home bakers will bake their favorite seasonal family recipes—with a holiday twist, of course—in an attempt to win $50,000 and the opportunity for one of their bakes to be featured in a Countdown to Christmas Hallmark movie! The show is hosted by Tamera Mowry-Housley, and several talented judges also join her in the kitchen, including renowned Chef Anna Haugh and Times cooking producer Vaughn Vreeland.

Mother-Daughter Baking Team from Birmingham
What makes the show even more exciting is there is a mother-daughter duo from Birmingham, Alabama! Sally Wicker McKay and her mother, Amy Wicker, have been wowing the judges with their skills the past several episodes. Sally and Amy won episode two’s bake off with their “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas Tree” cake, as well as another episode’s bake off with their dreamy, creamy peach pie. Not to mention their three-way tied for the best cookie wreath last week. Stay tuned for more of their amazing creations! Looks like it’s going to be a ~sweet~ season!

Who Is Sally?
You may be surprised to realize that Sally is the Sally from “Sally’s Confections”—aka the famous go-to blog for high-quality sugary recipes. But Sally didn’t start out baking. In fact, she started out in banking—quite a different field!
“My first career was in banking, but I left the workforce in 2009 to stay home with my children while they were little. I got into cookie baking and decorating around when my oldest son turned 4. And the why behind that is because I was at home-A LOT,” she shares on her blog.
“I made decorated sugar cookies for his birthday party, and they were a huge hit. Immediately, I was hooked on baking and decorating cookies. A lot has changed since I iced my first set of cookies as a hobby.”
