Birmingham Children’s Theatre (BCT) is kicking off its 2025–2026 season strong this September with DOT AND ZIGGY, a fun, interactive theatrical experience tailored to kids—even the tiniest audience members! Geared toward children ages 0–5, this fun, hands-on production is part of BCT’s Theatre for the Very Young (TVY) series, with the call to “Be Bold. Be Kind. Be You.” The 40 minute program is designed to spark imagination, curiosity, and connection in toddlers through an interactive live performance that encourages little ones to move, play, and explore alongside Dot the ladybug and Ziggy the skunk.

“Though they’re as different as can be, Dot and Ziggy discover the magic of friendship through shapes, colors, music, and collaboration,” shares BCT in a press release. “With playful repetition, rhyme, and interactive moments woven throughout, this fully immersive experience is perfect for kids who learn best through movement and hands-on discovery.” BCT thrives in teaching children all kinds of essential lessons through their educational performances. Best-selling author Irealle Saul-Sylva is directing the production, which was written by Linda Hartzell and Mark Perry with music by Christopher Walker.

You can purchase tickets for one of the three performances (Saturday, September 13, 20, and 27 at 10 a.m.) on their website. Children are $10 (unless they’re under age 2, then they’re free!), seniors and students are $15, and adults are $17. The performance will be held at BCT, located in the BJCC. This program is sensory-friendly on and off stage, thanks to theatre partner KultureCity, making it enjoyable and accessible for kids of all abilities. Be sure to check the show out, lady(bug)s and gentlemen… it’s gonna be so “stinkin’” cute! (Get it? Because of Ziggy the skunk?)
