
The awards were announced by Dee Ann Campbell, chairman of the AMA Contest Committee, in late May. This year, 19 publications submitted 298 entries in the annual contest. The South Carolina Press Association membership judged the entries. First place awards in many (to be announced) categories and divisions were presented in conjunction with the 2021 APA Summer Convention banquet awards program in June.
Birmingham Parent brought home first place wins in “Best Individual Website,” for www.birminghamparent.com, with second place going to Homewood Life Magazine for www.homewoodlife.com and third place going to Mountain Brook Magazine for www.mountainbrookmagazine.com.
Birmingham Parent also won first place for “Best House Ad or Self Promotion” for the 2021 Family Favorites Awards” house ad, while second place went to Peach Living (Clanton) for “Real Estate” and third place went to Jackson Monthly for “12 Issues a Year.”
