AmFirst Foundation, the charitable foundation of America’s First Federal Credit Union (AmFirst), recently announced three charities that will serve as the recipients for its 2022 Community First donation.

Bundles of Hope Diaper Bank – an initiative that aims to provide infant and toddler diapers to Birmingham families in need during financial hardship – has been chosen for their efforts in providing diapers at no cost, while remaining uncovered by any government payment program. The city of Birmingham is home to more than 14,500 children under the age of five – with 29 percent living below the poverty line.

The Literacy Council of Central Alabama – an organization with over 30 years of serving Central Alabama and other parts of the state in educating adults and their families through literacy education – has been chosen for their decades of work to improve the lives of all Alabamians. With 21% of adults living in Central Alabama ranging in ages 16-74 needing improved reading, writing and language skills, TLC is an imperative program for the benefit of our state.

YouthServe – a community service, civic engagement and philanthropic initiative focused on empowering and connecting the city of Birmingham’s youth – has also been chosen for its efforts in uniting diverse youth through in-school and extracurricular community programs that promote civic engagement, leadership and community service.

“We are thrilled to have all three of the noted charities as recipients of the Community First donation this year,” says AmFirst Foundation president Phil Boozer. “Each of these organizations serve the Birmingham community in a way that is dire to the success of our city. At AmFirst, we are always looking to give back, and in partnership with three of Birmingham’s imperative charities, we can do just that in 2022.”
