AmFirst Foundation, the charitable foundation of America’s First Federal Credit Union (AmFirst) today announced it raised a total $120,000 to benefit three charities located throughout the Birmingham area during its 2021 Community First Initiative. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham, Three Hots and a Cot and Smile-A-Mile each received $40,000 from the AmFirst Foundation, the philanthropic arm of AmFirst members founded in 2019 to make impactful investments in charitable organizations through giving and volunteer efforts.
Dollars were raised through multiple activations, including the annual Sporting Clays Charity Tournament and Charity Golf Tournament, as well as through multiple donations and small efforts, including a sheet sale and food truck day.
“The numbers from our Community First Initiative each year continue to blow us away,” says AmFirst Foundation president Phil Boozer. “At AmFirst, giving back is one of our top priorities, and more than ever, the community needs our help. We are happy to be a part of something that is so beneficial for so many of our deserving neighbors.”
In addition to the three charity beneficiaries, the AmFirst Foundation also provided more than $6,000 to Fultondale Tornado Relief, raising overall donations for 2021 to more than $126,000.
Since 2014, AmFirst has donated approximately $753,000 to various nonprofit organizations through the Community First Initiative. However, 2021 was the first year to do so specifically through the AmFirst Foundation.
“Due to being unable to fundraise amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the first year monetary donations have been given through the AmFirst Foundation,” adds Boozer. “We are truly proud of the giving efforts from all AmFirst employees, members and the surrounding community. We could not do this without everyone doing their part to serve those around them.”
