Pumpkin patches are at the top of every family’s to-do list in October. After all, they are happy places with hayrides, animals, fun foods and play areas. Not to mention pumpkins! This property is expansive with lots of room for children to run around, enjoy festivities and release some energy. A recent trip to Jasper, Alabama allowed me to check out this local pumpkin patch.
Here are the best reasons to visit Faye Whittemore Farms:
Pirate Ship Playground – This playground is well-thought out, featuring a large and sturdy wooden pirate ship structure. There are baby swings, as well as nearby benches for adults to rest while supervising the youngsters.
Petting Zoo – Kids love animals, especially when they can touch and intact with them. Faye Whittemore Farms offers chickens, rabbits, pigs, goats and the unusual Jerusalem donkey marked with a cross on its back.
Face Painting – Kids of all ages will giggle with anticipation while attempting to sit still while their artwork is painted, and then race to proudly show it off to their family and friends.
Inflatables – Parents love opportunities for kids to burn off some of their energy, and inflatables are the perfect choice. This Jasper pumpkin patch offers several, including a moonwalk and huge slide.
Hay Maze – No pumpkin patch would be complete without a hay maze for folks to meander through searching for the route back out to the farm. Faye Whittemore Farms has one that’s about the perfect size – not too big or too small and wide enough to go through with a stroller.
Ride to the Pumpkin Patch – Board an open-air bus attached to a tractor, and take off to the pumpkin patch! Kids can scamper along the grassy areas here in search of the perfect pumpkin. There is space enough onboard to take a stroller with you, as well as plenty of room to bring back all the pumpkins you desire. (Please note pumpkins are an extra charge.)
