Birmingham Water Works jumpstarts their new Hydrate the City program at the Alabama Farmers Market.
Published: June 11, 2021
After being virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Birmingham Water Works’ (BWW) beloved Hydrate the City returns with in-person pop-up hydration stations. The annual program, held during the summer season, is designed to encourage people to enjoy water straight from the tap with delicious fruit infusions. Attendees will have the opportunity to try the fruit-infused water samples while receiving fun giveaways and wonderful recipes to try at home.
“Excited is not a big enough word to describe our feeling about this year’s Hydrate the City,” says BWW Public Relations Manager & Spokesperson Rick Jackson. “We have such a fun schedule this year and we’re looking forward to interacting with the community in a safe, enjoyable manner.”
Hydrate the City will begin its schedule with a June 4th kick-off at Alabama Farmers Market. The local fruit and vegetable mega stand is celebrating 100 years in business.
“What better place to kick off this event than here at the Farmers Market? They, like so many others, were impacted by the pandemic; so, this is a great way for people to support local business and conveniently grab some delicious produce to make their own fruit-infused water in the comfort of their home,” Jackson adds.
The remaining schedule (it began June 4) is as follows:
June 18- Veterans Park (4800 Valleydale Rd Hoover, AL)
June 25- East Lake Park (8101 4th Ave N Birmingham, AL)
*Each event is from 10 a.m. until 12 noon
