Lucy Boney is the 2023 Children’s Miracle Network Hospital (CMNH) Local Champion for Children’s of Alabama
Published: March 17, 2023
Each year, participating children’s hospitals around the nation nominate a “champion” to serve as the face for children treated at their hospital. These ambassadors spend their year advocating for the charitable need of their local children’s hospital. Lucy is excited to represent Children’s as a local champion.
At 15 months, Lucy’s family adopted her from China, and Lucy’s journey at Children’s began. While at Children’s, Lucy underwent multiple surgeries to repair her cleft lip and palate. Thanks to the help she received from the International Adoption Clinic and the Hearing and Speech Clinic at Children’s, Lucy is now a sweet, loving and energetic 8-year-old. “One of the most rewarding parts of working with our patient families is when we get to share their story with our larger CMNH partners,” says Emily Hornak, Director of Cause Marketing and Corporate Partnerships at Children’s of Alabama. “While the patient and their family share the challenges and triumphs of their medical journey, we get to know them personally. Lucy and her family have embraced every opportunity to speak about her journey at Children’s—even her siblings love attending events! We truly have a wonderful relationship with the Boney family. Our whole community benefits from their support of Children’s.”
When you see Lucy’s photo at your local Publix, Walmart, Costco or other CMNH retail partners, 100 percent of your donation at checkout will support Children’s and help provide the best healthcare to children not only in Alabama but across the Southeast.
