Barnsley Resort has roots dating back two centuries to a time when a young man fancied to build a dream castle for his beloved bride. That young man was Godfrey Barnsley and today, the resort offers more than he would have ever thought possible.

Accommodations
Countryside cottages in a variety of sizes and floor plans line the walkways of the village offering 90 rooms and suites. Each one is fully appointed with thoughtful amenities, spacious rooms and easy access to resort features. Just steps from the cottages, there are fire pits for s’mores (ingredients available inside the inn lobby), lawn games, restaurants, gift shops, a swimming pool and so much more!
The newest lodging option is the three-story Inn at Barnsley Resort, designed to complement the English-inspired village and provide additional room choices for guests. With 55 spacious rooms and suites, the Inn offers luxury accommodations with upscale amenities, gorgeous views and innovative touches. The Inn itself has a stately presence with a grand staircase and beautiful exposed beams. The lobby invites guests with a lovely fireplace, hardwood floors and swanky furnishings. The craftsmanship is outstanding in this place, making everyone feel so incredibly welcome.
Resort Features
Vacationers at Barnsley Resort have so many niceties at their disposal. From restaurants to activities to meeting space and more, there’s always something to do! Restaurants include Woodlands Grill, Rice House and the Beer Garden. All have an individual ambiance that adds to the culinary experience of exceptional food and service.
The Fitness Center allows folks to stay on track with their health and fitness routine while away from home. Other folks find that walking or hiking daily on the property is good exercise within itself. Guests can walk down to the Barnsley Barnyard area and visit the pigs, goats, chickens and other animals – kids LOVE this area!
One of the most exciting ways to see the property is on horseback. Book a guided wilderness ride, a resort ride or let the kiddos participate in horse painting, which is totally safe (it feels like a massage to the horse). This is a wonderful way for children to learn more about these four-legged friends, all the while gaining confidence to ride.
Take home boutique-style gifts and clothing from the gift shop, and find unique gems, souvenirs and snacks at the Outpost General Store. Outpost is also the place to arrange trips to shoot sporting clays or tour SpringBank Plantation, a sister location that offers 1,800 acres for wing shooting (quail, pheasant or duck) along with a clubhouse.
Other fantastic amenities include The Spa at Barnsley Resort, where pampering is paramount; the pool with an amazing view of the championship 18-hole golf course; and golf lessons along with the course itself. Be sure and carve out some time to meander through the Manor House Ruins – the place where it all began – and the relaxing gardens. Rent a bike and go exploring or spend time on the water in various activities like fly fishing for more outdoor fun!
Best Time to Visit
Summertime is obviously perfect for outdoor activities, but don’t ignore the shoulder seasons of spring and fall when Georgia temperatures are slightly cooler than summer. Keep in mind, this resort is perfectly equipped for couples, families or gal pal trips no matter what the season. If you need a family getaway not too far from home, then now is the best time to visit.
