Local non-profit offers free seasonal produce to improve community’s access to fresh food.
Published: May 7, 2022
WHAT:
As part of their mission to build food-resilient, healthy, and connected communities, JVTF’s farm stand has returned this season to provide Birmingham residents in the Woodlawn and Downtown communities with access to a variety of seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs, and seedlings, which are grown and harvested on the Teaching Farms and stocked weekly. The stand operates on a self-serve system, with instructions inside, and all produce and seedlings are free, as JVTF believes everyone deserves access to quality food, no matter their circumstances.
The JVTF Farm Stand is made possible by the support of the American Heart Association, Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham, Jefferson County Commission and the USDA.
