The University of Alabama’s Parenting Assistance Line, a free and confidential helpline for local parents, has partnered with Bright by Text to support local parents of children up to age 8. Through this partnership, local parents have access to a new resource designed with convenience in mind for families.
“Parenting Assistance Line’s partnership with Bright by Text is so important because it allows us to expand our mission of helping all Alabama families give their children a bright beginning,” said Leslie Guy, Parent Services Coordinator, The University of Alabama, Child Development Resources. “This brighter beginning will help children grow into healthy, happy, and successful adults.”
Bright by Text is a national nonprofit and social impact technology organization that builds parental competence, confidence, and connection. Parents receive free texts on everything from family-friendly events to parenting and child development tips from trusted early childhood experts that are timed to the child’s exact age.
“Parents are so busy, and kids don’t come with instructions. So, when a parent signs up for Bright by Text, we send them expert tips: conversation starters, family bonding activities, games to boost their child’s brain-building, free events near them, and much more,” says Jean McSpadden, President & CEO, Bright by Text. “We know our messages help as 95 percent of Bright by Text subscribers say it makes them a more confident caregiver.”
