Birmingham Charity Hoping to Create Christmas for 500 Children

Published: October 28, 2022

There are so many children who go without during the holidays. The Circle of Love Foundation is on a mission to change that.

The Circle of Love Foundation is preparing to not only give Christmas to 500 children across Alabama, Tennessee and Virginia, but the nonprofit is trying to give children the gift of hope. The Circle of Love Foundation has a goal of providing 3,000 new, unwrapped toys that will be spread to over 500 children.

Will Santa make it to children in need?

This question is of primary concern for Doris Phillips. Now the President of RealSource Title Insurance and Real Estate Closings and COO of Lake Homes Realty, Doris grew up in poverty outside of Birmingham, Alabama. At nine, she cut grass to help take care of her siblings.

Doris remembers one Christmas fondly as she watched a truck come down her driveway delivering presents to her and her siblings that she knew she otherwise would not have gotten. At that moment, Doris had found her calling in life.

Fast-forward years later, Doris learned from the school of hard knocks and is a professional success in real estate. She founded The Circle of Love Foundation to provide children in need with Christmas and hope. Doris knows the deep pain of being forgotten and is committed to preventing it from happening to other children.

Giving Hope, Love and Support to Children

In 2004 Doris founded The Circle of Love Foundation so children could believe their ideas are real possibilities. The Circle of Love Foundation has touched more than 8,000 children in several shelters and facilities who would have otherwise gone without opening gifts on Christmas morning or basic school supplies. “Every penny given is a penny donated,” said Phillips.

The 19th annual Toy Drive kicked off Monday, October 24, 2022. On average, parents can spend up to $276 on one child for Christmas under the age of 18 (according to Capital Counselor). For more information and donation options, visit www.thecircleoflove.org. All of the money collected and toys donated are used for children in need throughout Alabama, Tennessee and Virginia.
