Testing availability and scheduling due to the COVID-19 pandemic have adversely affected students and families embarking on the college admissions process. The University of Alabama at Birmingham will not require applicants for spring, summer and fall 2021 to submit ACT or SAT test scores for admissions or scholarship consideration. High school GPA and quality of curriculum will be evaluated as the primary criteria for determining academic preparedness.
“Our top priority is the health and safety of students, including our future students,” says Bradley Barnes, Ph.D., vice provost of Enrollment Management at UAB. “UAB recognizes the hardship caused by COVID-19 and is committed to supporting our future Blazers as a test-optional institution for the 2021 calendar year.”
Information about admissions requirements can be found at uab.edu/admissions/apply. The new UAB High School Counselor website can be accessed at go.uab.edu/hscounselors. School counselors can use this site to connect to the counselor portal and check application status.
