Award-winning science camp - Gross Out Camp. Hands-on field biology along with science experiments. Outdoor lessons in nature. Learning made so much fun, they will never know it! (It's science but please don't tell the kids!)
Live animal shows with snakes, lizards and turtles, exploring the woods, roly poly races, and meeting a tree are some of the activities. Where there is a creek: fishing, crawdads, water currents and plenty of splashing. Science experiments include polymers (slime), lava lamps (density) and polar, non-polar molecules – all of this plus the freedom to explore the natural world, comprises Fresh Air Family's Gross Out Camp. It is the kind of science children love: hands-on, a bit disgusting, and all taking place in the Great Outdoors in a child's natural habitat.
We offer campers the opportunity to learn. All of our lessons are based on design-thinking -- which creates critical thinking skills. Lessons address every learning style so that every child can be successful. Using self-directed studies, the children can learn at their own pace -- and focus on what they are interested in: plants, animals, bugs, science experiments, or herps (snakes).
It is also fun -- because we believe nothing is more fun than learning! For the parent, we guarantee tired, dirty children.
