The non-profit Alabama Game Changers (AGC) was created in 2014 by pediatrician, Dr. Stephanie Denton, and pediatric nurse, Karen Belcher, to help merge the medical and educational communities together with respect to helping dyslexic children in Alabama. The initial focus was on early and accurate diagnoses along with evidenced-based effective interventions for any child with learning struggles in reading, math, or written expression.

In 2020, Alabama Game Changers expanded its scope of services and partnered with The Morris Center and NOW! Programs to broaden its focus on combating illiteracy by creating a medical center for academic resilience and success. The Morris Center is a Florida-based medical center that offers specialty services for the many conditions that accompany learning disabilities while addressing the root causes of reading difficulties.

Combining the medical expertise of the medical team at AGC with the scientifically proven reading and math interventions developed by neuropsychologist, Dr. Tim Conway and others, the NOW! Programs therapeutic interventions are evidenced-based and effective programs designed to address both the medical and educational aspects associated with learning challenges.

This unique center offers a multi-specialty diagnostic and treatment model approach that trains the different specialty team members to work and communicate together for the best results for the child. As a state-of-the-art interventional treatment center, the focus of therapy is on how neurological skills are built, layer upon layer, from the most foundational layers first. By developing strong preliteracy skills first, our specialty therapeutic services are optimally geared towards those needing assistance to combat their learning struggles while at the same time addressing the many medical and mental health conditions associated with them.
