The Alabama Ballet is performing Sleeping Beauty with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra from March 13–15 at the BJCC Concert Hall (2100 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. N., Birmingham) and you do not want to miss it.

The story follows the beloved tale of Princess Aurora who is caught between the wicked curse of Carabosse, a glamorous, evil fairy, and the protective magic of the noble Lilac Fairy—leading Aurora to, shall we say, a paralyzing state. However, Lilac Fairy’s spell says that only true love’s kiss can break the curse…. Will Aurora’s true love find her before it’s too late?

If you’ve ever heard Tchaikovsky’s enchanting score, you know you’re in for a treat hearing it live from the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. Not to mention the lovely, lavish set, the vibrant, detailed costumes, and the masterful choreography by Christopher Stuart inspired by Marius Petipa that depicts the beautiful story of Sleeping Beauty so clearly. (The Alabama Ballet is the state’s premiere professional ballet company for a reason!) The performance will run for 1 hour and 30 minutes, making it the perfect length for even the littlest of princesses and princes.
