The Parenting Media Association held their annual conference on November 6–7, 2025 in Chicago, Illinois. Nationwide publications gathered to share editorial ideas and brainstorm how to best serve their readers: families. (Aka YOU!)

Each year, the conference convenes with an awards banquet to celebrate the best of the best in parenting media publication. Winners are chosen by judges from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. Family Resource Group (the parent company of Birmingham Parent Magazine) was honored with twenty-five awards, and Birmingham Parent’s Associate Editor Julianna Steen was honored with three editorial awards. Here are a few highlights:

This feature is packed with relatable and real details that would help parents discern how to plan better vacations when traveling abroad. And since many of the tips would apply stateside, too, this feature is relevant for anyone who has ever taken a trip with kids or plans to someday.”

Pink&Blue Spring Issue

Bronze Award in Spring Pink&Blue Magazine for Ancillary Overall Writing

“The writing in this publication invites readers in with a relatable and reassuring voice that

seems to say ‘hey, I’ve been there too.’ The informative stories alleviate so many of the nagging

questions and stress around pregnancy — from dealing with morning sickness to finding the

right prenatal class. Sections like the opening ‘Little Bits’ offer some just-for-fun relief and help
