Tell Me More About the Exhibit

The exhibit celebrates Alabama’s unique history and natural beauty and commemorates America’s 250th birthday!

Alabama wasn’t officially founded as a state until 1819; however, that doesn’t mean there haven’t been people from across Alabama whose bravery has shaped our state and country, both then and now. The exhibit seeks to celebrate such individuals, many of whom history has overlooked.

An insider’s peek into the exhibit.

Who Will Be Featured:

“The exhibit features figures such as Calvin McGhee, who helped establish the Poarch Creek Indians; educator Carrie Tuggle; voting rights activist Virginia Durr; NASA scientist Clyde Foster; and contemporary leaders, including Alabama Poet Laureate Ashley M. Jones and HICA! CEO Dr. Carlos E. Alemán,” Vulcan Park & Museum’s exhibit page explains.

Did you know the Vulcan weighs over 100,000 pounds?!
