What if swinging a golf club could change lives? At Make-A-Wish Alabama’s Putt Wishes First Golf Tournament, you can—“Every swing, every sponsorship, and every show of support goes directly toward creating joy and hope for Alabama children waiting on their wishes,” says Jodie James, Director of Development at Make-A-Wish Alabama. “Putt Wishes First is one of our favorite days of the year because it brings the community together in such a meaningful way…. We are so grateful to our partners, golfers, and volunteers who make this event possible and help bring life-changing wishes to life.”

The annual golf tournament, presented by GUIN powered by Bryant Heating & Cooling Systems, will be held on October 2, 2025 at Greystone Golf & Country Club’s Founder’s Course. Putt Wishes First will kick off at noon, providing participants with the opportunity to enjoy playing on a premier private golf course, network with fellow supporters and Make-A-Wish families, savor delicious refreshments, and experience a wish reveal. Make-A-Wish Alabama has granted 1,500 wishes across all 67 counties in the state since the chapter’s origin. They still have over 200 children in Alabama waiting on a wish, however, making the golf tournament a crucial fundraiser. “Our Putt Wishes First Golf Tournament is about so much more than a great day on the course—it’s about rallying our community to bring hope, strength and joy to children facing critical illnesses,” explains Tracy Bennett Smith, President & CEO, Make-A-Wish Alabama. “Every player and sponsor is helping us grant wishes that create lasting memories for deserving kids and their families right here in Alabama.” There will also be a silent auction to help raise additional funds for local wishes.

The golf tournament is a chance to build community, to rally around these kids and inspire them to keep fighting against the devastating illnesses running rampant in their bodies. Make-A-Wish Alabama and Greystone Country Club Board Member Heather Feathers emphasizes the power of community, stating, “This event isn’t just about golf—it’s about creating joy for children who need it most. With hundreds of Alabama children still waiting on wishes, every putt, every sponsor, and every show of support brings us closer to granting life-changing experiences for these brave kids and their families.”
