Truly a beautiful and inspiring collection.

One of the most quintessential Christmas traditions throughout the ages has been the classic Christmas card you send in the mail every December. Whether or not yours typically includes an updated photo of your kids or your family on the front, your holiday greeting card likely has some form of artistic design on it. But does your Christmas card’s design have meaning behind the artwork? Support a local business and Children’s of Alabama by purchasing your Christmas card from this unique holiday collection this year–a portion of the proceeds will be donated to patients’ families in need!
Local artist Abby Little Jessup recently created a holiday greeting card collection for Dogwood Hill, a Birmingham-based online stationery company, that was inspired by two Children’s of Alabama patients: Margaret Anne (7) and Harmony (10). The cards combine Christmas cheer with a few of the hospital’s special features. For example, the “river tree” represents the painted blue river at the hospital’s entrance that guides patients throughout the campus. If you like the greenery and the lights on the tree, you can thank Margaret Anne and Harmony for their excellent painting skills.
If you’re wondering how this project came to be, look no further than Jennifer Hunt, Founder and CEO of Dogwood Hill. “I saw the inside workings of the hospital during my time as a member of the Committee for the Future at Children’s. Seeing how the staff and physicians support families at some of their most difficult times inspired me to find ways to join their efforts,” she explains.
Chandler Bibb, Chief Development Officer at Children’s of Alabama, greatly appreciated Abby Little Jessup and the effort she made including Margaret Ann and Harmony in crafting her artwork. “Harmony and Margaret Anne enjoyed working with artist Abby Little Jessup to create and inspire the beautiful cards with stories of their journeys at Children’s and treasured memories,” she says.
Truly, this collaboration is beautiful and inspiring. Talk about a sweet way to spread Christmas cheer this year!
