The Alabama Symphony Orchestra invites you to their annual Symphony in the Summer concert series! This series features 3 FREE outdoor concerts at Birmingham’s own Railroad Park. The concerts will feature a range of classical and popular works in a beautiful setting with local food and beverage vendors for your convenience. Whether you’re interested in the mesmerizing sounds of Smetana’s The Moldau, the unmistakable rhythmic drive of Grieg’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King,” or the familiar tunes of blockbusters like Moana and Superman, there is something for every listener in this series! More information is available at alabamasymphony.org
This season, all concerts will begin at 7:30pm. In an effort to ensure the comfort of our attendees, Family Fun Night will now begin later in the evening than in past years. We have decided to make this change due to feedback we received regarding the temperature earlier in the day and the fact that this event now occurs on a long holiday weekend.
Music Director Carlos Izcaray will kick off this concert series with a Symphonic Spectacular on May 26th at 7:30pm. Maestro Izcaray says of this concert, “We are excited to present the Symphony in the Summer series this year! The fantastic musicians of the ASO will be performing glittering and stunning classical works in the picturesque venue of Railroad Park as we celebrate the close of a wonderful 22/23 concert season!”
SuperPOPS! Conductor Chris Confessore will lead the orchestra in the Saturday and Sunday performances, treating audiences to a concert featuring the works of Grieg, Bizet, and Rossini as well as a Family Fun Night to close the season. He says of the experience, “I love the ASO’s tradition of concluding our concert season with three spectacular FREE concerts at Railroad Park. Each year, thousands of residents bring their families to RR Park for these inspiring and fun-filled evenings of great music performed by our spectacular orchestra. It’s such a thrill to be able to share these performances with our community – I can’t wait to see everyone there!”
Admission to these performances is free thanks to the generous support of Dale’s Seasoning, Medical Properties Trust, and Joe Piper, Inc.
This Memorial Day Weekend with the ASO is full of opportunities to hear beautiful music that appeals to everyone.
