Join the American Village in celebrating George Washington’s 293rd birthday on Presidents’ Day on Monday, February 17th. Enjoy family-friendly events from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., including a puppet show, games, a meet-and-greet with President John and Abigail Adams, and birthday cupcakes with George himself and his wife, Martha. You can even enlist in Washington’s Continental Army for yourself! And who knows, you might even learn a thing or two about 18th century clothing and colonial justice.
While we know it now as Presidents’ Day, the holiday originally began as a way to honor George Washington’s birthday in 1885, and the holiday’s name wasn’t changed until 1971. The American Village loves to celebrate it—they purchased their land on Highway 119 on Washington’s birthday and their first school program began on the holiday as well.
Admission to the American Village for Washington’s celebration will be $11 for adults, $10 for children, $9 for seniors, and free to veterans, active military, and children ages 4 and under. Make sure to check it out if you’re looking for a fun, immersive experience for your family on President’s Day this year!
