Jones Valley Teaching Farm Launches Public Giving Campaign

Jones Valley Teaching Farm (JVTF) is pleased to announce the launch of its Ready to Grow public giving campaign that will raise funds to complete The Center for Food Education, a community hub to be built on JVTF’s Downtown Teaching Farm located at 701 25^th Street North in Birmingham.

The multi-use facility, slated to open this summer, will anchor the non-profit’s work and create an inviting permanent infrastructure that will reach more students, teachers, and surrounding community members—locally, regionally and nationally. The Center will position Birmingham as a national leader and model for food-based education and workforce development and will bring together students, educators, and the community to create a dynamic hub around food, education, health and youth employment.

The Ready to Grow campaign is a community-driven approach to engaging the Birmingham community in outfitting the Center with the tools it needs and allowing residents the opportunity to invest in JVTF’s mission through tangible donations—small and large. Anchoring the campaign launch is the debut of JVTF’s Ready to Grow website, found at ready2grow.org. 

Through the website’s online catalog, interested donors can browse various areas of the Center and choose to donate funds towards specific items, such as fruit trees for the orchard, appliances for the culinary studio, and tables for the greenhouse. Items range in price from $25 to $2,000, and donors may also give a gift of any amount to support the Center’s greatest needs. The Ready to Grow public campaign aims to raise $200,000 to support the completion of the Center.
