Teaching children what to expect on their surgery day.
Published: September 18, 2024
A delightful new book concept has emerged in the world of children’s literature with the release of Alana Smith’s debut of Magic Air – Ten Kid Sized Steps to Surgery, which takes young readers and their parents on a journey of what they can expect on their surgery day.
Magic Air was born out of the need to prepare kids for surgery. It is the first picture book to guide kids through 10 steps of surgery, with kid-friendly language and beautiful illustrations. Smith, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), decided to write and publish this book when she realized there was nothing on the market to prepare kids for surgery.
In Magic Air, the narrator addresses the reader, and explains the steps to surgery as he walks his younger brother through his first surgery. Children will have a better understanding of the entire surgical process, and will be ready to tackle surgery day with this fun, read aloud picture book.
Filled with vibrant illustrations by Roksana Barwinska, Magic Air comes to life on the page, transporting readers inside a hospital so they can know what to expect on Surgery Day.
Magic Air is now available for purchase online and at select retailers. For more information, visit http://www.sleepingbirdbooks.com.
