Your Facebook and Instagram experiences are about to change, and they will never sound the same again. Now when you talk to Meta AI, parent company Meta’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, it can talk back with voices eerily similar to celebrities you know and love, from John Cena, Keegan-Michael Key, and Awkwafina to actresses Judi Dench and Kristen Bell. But unlike the drama that went down when OpenAI’s “Sky” was dubbed a copy of Scarlett Johansson’s voice, it appears that Meta has formalized partnerships with the actors to use their voices. Meta has used their voices to train their chatbot tool.
What else is new in this Meta update?
- Social media influencers can make AI versions of themselves.
- Reels originally made in other languages will be auto-translated and dubbed to your language for your feed.
- Meta plans to develop a feature they’re going to call “imagined for you,” which will generate and share AI-generated images to your feeds based on your interests, as well as popular trends.
There’s also a new set of glasses coming to the market soon: “Orion.” Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, revealed a prototype of “Orion” at the annual Meta Connect conference, explaining it will be similar to Meta Quest or Apple’s Vision Pro, but in somewhat normal-looking glasses. Needless to say, a lot of technological advances are in the works for Meta, especially in the AI and augmented reality (AR) departments.
