YMCA of Greater Birmingham and YMCA of Greater Birmingham’s Camp Cosby

The YMCA of Greater Birmingham is an association of individuals of all ages and from all walks of life joined together by a shared passion: to strengthen community. Proudly serving families throughout Jefferson and Shelby Counties, the Y is committed to providing inclusive, quality programs that promote youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

A trusted leader in youth safety and programming, the Y provides enriching, affordable afterschool childcare, summer day camp, preschool and youth programs throughout Birmingham and surrounding areas. Each summer children from Alabama and beyond leave the busy world behind for serenity and fellowship at YMCA’s sleepaway camp, Camp Cosby.

Through generous charitable donations and high-impact partnerships, the Y ensures the critical needs of the community are met. The Y provides free summer lunch to children in communities identified as food insecure and distributes thousands of meals each year at drive-through food distributions. Foster families have additional support through membership and unforgettable summers at Camp Cosby at no cost. Working families have access to financial assistance for Y programs including afterschool care, summer camp, swim lessons, youth sports, membership and more to ensure everyone has opportunities to learn, grow and thrive.
