Bring your imagination and sense of adventure to the revolutionary American Village – a venue so unique, it’s a national treasure!

The American Village serves the Nation as an educational institution whose mission is to strengthen and renew the foundations of American liberty and constitutional self-government by engaging and inspiring citizens and leaders, with a special emphasis on programs for young people.

The American Village is open to both school and public visitors, as well as private events.

Located just thirty minutes south of downtown Birmingham, Alabama, the American Village offers nationally-pioneering educational programs for children and adults, amid a campus inspired by some of America’s most historic places The American Village brings to life our nation’s stories of liberty and sacrifice.

The American Village is a unique facility for customized special events. Wedding receptions, office retreats, corporate picnics, holiday parties, and elegant or casual dinners can all be accommodated in one or more of our unique facilities. Hours of Operation:

Regular hours of operation are Monday-Friday 10am to 4pm.

During the Spring Season Festival of Tulips, hours are Monday-Saturday 10am to 4pm and Sunday 12-4pm as long as the flowers are in bloom (weather permitting). During our Summer Season (June and July), the American Village is open Tuesday-Saturday 10am to 4pm (excluding July 5).

Services Provided:

Educational Field Trips, School Programs, Public Programs, and Private Events

The Village offers school programs for students in grades Pre-K-12, and caters to public, private, parochial and homeschool groups. Students take part in American history as they step back in time to the founding era of our nation, learning firsthand through engaging experiences led by a passionate staff of costumed historical interpreters.

But more than that, the summer season offers family-friendly, interactive and engaging fun for all ages! Meet patriots of the past, see a puppet show, become a colonial spy and carry a secret message past redcoat soldiers, learn about apothecary medicine, and oh, so much more!


Price Range for Services: Regular admission is $11, $10 for students and youth (ages 5-17), $9 for seniors, and free to children ages 4 and under, veterans and active military.
