Build Up Community School is currently enrolling 9th-10th grade students for the 2023-2024 school year

Published: February 19, 2023

Build UP Community School is one of the nation’s most specialized and recognized institutions of education for high school students. Located in Birmingham, AL, the one-of-a-kind school is currently enrolling 9th-10th grade students with a passion for learning and workforce development for the 2023-2024 school year.

Visit Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 5 – 7 p.m. for our Community Open House for an opportunity to meet our faculty & staff, board members, community partners and elected officials.

BuildUP Community School is a private school in the Titusville/Ensley area that provides an alternative approach to learning and establishing a prosperous future for students and their community. BUCS is designed to graduate students with not just a high school diploma but also an associates degree and certifications in the construction field over the course of six (6) years. After graduation, the students attend a 4-year-institution and achieve a bachelor’s degree, acquire a job making at least $40,000 a year, or start their own business.

Following those years of learning and personal investment which is six (6) years in total, they are given the keys to a zero interest mortgage on a home of which they helped renovate and restore as students in the Titusville/ Ensley area. This approach to learning and empowering is transformational for students and their communities helping create generational wealth and neighborhood revitalization.

For more media interviews or more information on enrollment contact Anthony Beckett, Dean of Culture at anthony@buildup.work or 205-847-4086. Guests are encouraged to register for the Community Open House here. Enrollment is available at Student Registration (jupitered.com).

*Build UP is the nation’s first and only workforce development high school model that provides low-income youth career-ready skills through paid apprenticeships with industry-aligned academic coursework, leading them to become educated, credentialed, and empowered civic leaders, professionals, tradesmen, homeowners and landlords. Build UP has been featured locally and nationally on various news outlets like CNN, WBRC, al.com and Birmingham City Council.
