Preschoolers attending the Primrose School at Liberty Park donated 312 books to local children in need to honor Read Across America Day. The books were collected through Primrose’s annual book donation drive and presented to Jessie’s Place.

LaTonya Melton, director, accepted the donated books on behalf of Jessie’s Place.  Jessie’s Place of the Jimmie Hale Mission is a residential facility for homeless women and children.

The activities celebrated Read Across America Day, an annual celebration which raises awareness of the importance of reading with children, in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

“Primrose’s literacy goals directly align with those of Read Across America Day, and it’s our hope that celebrating this day will encourage parents to establish a regular reading routine with their children and help those in our community recognize the power of early literacy,” said Margaret O’Bryant, Franchise Owner of Primrose School at Liberty Park.

Primrose’s book donation drive is a part of Og’s Bountiful Books, a Primrose reading program that encourages parents and students to read together at home, and share favorite stories with classmates and children in need. The donation drive is part of the Primrose Promise Giving™ portion of Primrose’s Balanced Learning® curriculum, designed to help students learn the importance of giving back to their community through hands-on giving activities and projects.
