Alabama School of Fine Arts Summer Programs meet the needs of the young sketch artist to the young scientist. Programs are designed to educate, inspire and enrich the student in a fun, casual, and collaborative environment. Campers can build their dance technique, their confidence on the stage, or even a robot. The camp choice is theirs. Come experience the magic of the Alabama School of Fine Arts, where education is our passion. Scholarships are available. See below for program details:
Beginning & Intermediate Creative Writing Camp
Rising 6th – 12th graders
June 5 – 9 (8 am – 12:00 pm or 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm) Tuition: $195
Do you love stories—writing them, watching them, dreaming them up? Have you written poems you’ve never shown anyone? Does the thought of reading a new book excite you more than just about anything else? Then this half-day camp is for you! Pick either the morning or afternoon session; this camp is perfect for mixing and matching with ASFA’s other half-day camps this week! In either session, ASFA’s award-winning Creative Writing faculty will introduce rising 6 – 8th grade students to the fundamentals of creative writing (poetry and prose), offer generative prompts, and provide constructive feedback. Tuition includes a writing journal, an anthology of work created during the week, and a daily snack.
Explorations in Music and Music Technology

June 12 – 16 (8:30 am – 3 pm) Tuition: $325

Whether you like to sing or play an instrument, you will have fun exploring musical basics like ear-training, music theory, and music history, while taking daily classes in Music Technology, Choir, Instrumental Ensemble and Chamber Music. The camp concludes with a public performance at the end of the last camp day, given by the students for their family and friends. Tuition includes lunch, a snack, and camp supplies.
