The Cook Museum of Natural Science is a state-of-the-art natural science museum in downtown Decatur, AL. It provides a hands-on, immersive experience where visitors can explore and learn about nature with live animals, interactive Exhibits, and educational programming.

Mine your own gemstones at the Cook Museum Mining Co. Touch a meteorite from outer space. Climb to the top of Big Tree. Be mesmerized by moon jellies. Build a volcano and watch it erupt. Life is AMAZING at Cook Museum!

Aquarist for a Day Camp

$145 (+ tax) per participant, $15 Member Discount

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an aquarist or to work at the Cook Museum of Natural Science? What would you have to know? What would you get to do? Experience live animal feedings, behind the scenes tours, ocean classes, independent workstations, and even a shark dissection! Lunch and a t-shirt included.

There are two ways to register: in person at the Guest Services desk in the Museum lobby or contact the Group Sales department during regular weekday business hours at (256) 898-6312.

Herpetologist for a Day

In addition to the Exhibits, the Museum also has event rental spaces for groups big and small! We have rooms just right for meetings, banquets, corporate events, and gatherings of all sizes. Have your event catered with lots of options from Nature's Table or your preferred vendor.

Birthday parties at Cook Museum are a piece of cake! Party packages include Exhibit admission for up to 20 guests, a private room, party hosts, and more. Themed programs such as Mad Science, Rocking Reptiles and Amazing Amphibians are available for an additional cost. Nature's Table catering is also available for birthday parties.
